HOW WE’RE DIFFERENT

Our services focus on the most important part of your travel — what to see, do, eat, and drink when you’re at your destination. By pairing technology with the human touch of our expert trip designers, we’re able to deliver a high-touch personal service at a fair price. We believe travel to be a deeply personal experience; our goal is to provide custom travel plans that are completely tailored to your unique preferences.

Our daily service fee allows us to be objective with our recommendations. We do not allow restaurants or tour / activity providers to pay us to recommend them to our travelers. It’s our belief that you shouldn’t need to spend hours of your own time or spend a fortune to get the travel experience you’re looking for. THE STORY BEHIND JOURNY

When cofounder Susan Ho was working as an executive of a fast-growing startup, she went on vacation to Buenos Aires and didn’t have time to plan her trip in advance beyond her flights and hotel. She ended up spending over 10 hours of her vacation in her hotel Googling, sorting through TripAdvisor and Yelp reviews, only to still end up in a “local, authentic steakhouse” surrounded by tourists. It was far from the types of hidden gems she loves discovering while traveling.

In 2015, she brought on Leiti Hsu (the two met 10 years ago on the dance floor in Shanghai) to start Journy. Leiti is an accomplished journalist and food show host who has worked as an advisor to hospitality and food tech startups. She also hosts the red carpet at the James Beard Awards and the World’s 50 Best Awards. As an expert traveler with insider connections all over the world, Leiti’s excited to be able to create a service that allows more people to travel the way she does — with access and insider knowledge of the best places to be.

Our team is full of passionate travelers who are committed to making sure you have the best travel experience and make the most of your time off. From sourcng the most up-to-date travel recommendations from experts, to telling incredible stories of chefs and unique places around the world, to building relationships with the best restaurants to get our travelers preferred access, our team does the heavy lifting so you don’t have to.

Once you request a Journy, one of our concierge team members will reach out to connect on your trip details. Each person is an expert traveler who obsesses over the details, listens to your needs, and is there to answer any questions. They’re connected to our extended network of top chefs and local insiders to provide you with the latest and greatest.

Susan has helped build some of the fastest growing companies in NYC, including Fab.com, DigitalOcean, Blue Apron, and LearnVest. Susan graduated from Wharton and was a consultant at BCG before startups. She met Leiti nearly a decade ago while dancing on speakers in Shanghai.

Her work has been featured in Forbes, Fortune, Town & Country, and Cosmopolitan.

Director, Sales & Partnerships
A multi-country expat from her career as an commodities trader, Sana brings her global perspective to developing partnerships and international strategy at Journy. She graduated from Duke with a degree in psychology and behavioral economics. When not on an airplane, Sana can be found on a tennis court, ski slope, or dance floor.

Director, Operations
Stephanie leads the Concierge Operations team at Journy. A former Senior Consultant at IBM, she brings her analytics skills to make strategic and operational decisions. Stephanie is an avid traveler with a passion for artisan coffee, desserts, and cool shops and is obsessed with new restaurant and café spots. She's known to have a Yelp map ingrained in her head.

Claire is passionate about entrepreneurship and has worn marketing hats for a number of entrepreneurship organizations including: Venture for America, the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute, SheWorx, and FounderMade. She’s an adventure traveler who loves wandering city streets and hiking. Prior to Journy, she founded and ran a dance company to bring the joy of dance to all, regardless of skill level.

Dave grew up working in the back and front of restaurants New Jersey, before going to study in London, Boston, and New York. He graduated NYU with a hospitality degree before working with national restaurant associations, and at some amazing restaurants in NYC. Dave now cooks on his off time for a supper club and for his many musician-roommates in Brooklyn. He also gardens and has a dog.

Elena fell in love with Italy after spending her freshman year of college living in Florence. Since then she has continued her travels through exchange programs and now flies the friendly skies as a flight attendant for American Airlines. She has a mean sweet tooth, and seeks out the best local pastries in every new city she heads to.

Fran fell in love with travel after studying abroad in Rome while at Loyola University Chicago. After earning degrees in International Business & Marketing, she moved back to la città eterna to work and study Italian for three years. She has explored 28 countries over four continents and is passionate about sustainable tourism. She loves learning about different cultures, and can't live without Italian espresso in her veins.

Caleb was also named Wine & Spirits Magazine's Best New Sommelier of 2016, and featured as one of Food & Wine Magazine's 2017 Sommeliers of the Year.

Dustin Wilson is a Master Sommelier based in New York City. His career spans some of the top restaurants across the US – Frasca Food & Wine in Boulder, CO; The Little Nell, in Aspen; and RN74 in San Francisco. Dustin is best known for his position as Wine Director of the 3 Michelin-starred restaurant, Eleven Madison Park. This expertise led him to have a leading role in the critically acclaimed wine documentary, SOMM, and he was later featured in the film’s sequel, SOMM: Into the Bottle.
