Rome is one of my favorite places. Basically an open-air museum and one of the most fascinating cities in the world. Food and wine are central to Roman social life.

Here is the list of my favorite places:

La Pergola (via Cadlolo 101 00136 Roma)

Roma Cavalieri Hotel

It’s an easy choice since it’s a 3 star Michelin restaurant. Heinz Beck's cuisine is imaginative and creative based on a mediterranean menu. The restaurant has an amazing panoramic roof garden with a view of the Eternal City.

Felice a Testaccio (via Mastrogiorgio 29 00153 Roma)

Here you can find the typical cuisine from Rome and Lazio. It’s a simple trattoria with a family atmosphere. Try the “Pasta alla Amatriciana”!

La Carbonara (Piazza Campo Dè Fiori 23, Roma)

If you crave Carbonara this is the right place. The Gnocchi and Saltimbocca are also musts. The restaurant is situated in one of the oldest squares, “Campo dei Fiori” where you can find a very energetic atmosphere.

Regoli Pasticceria (via dello Statuto, 60)

I don’t have a sweet tooth, but if you are in Rome you should try the “Maritozzo.”  I cannot explain what it is... a mix between bread, cookies dough and a cone filled with roman whipped cream. For sure Regoli is the best for this.

Sant'Eustachio Il Caffè(Piazza Sant'Eustachio)

Stay Foodish

This is the best coffee in the world for me! A small tiny place just behind the Italian government building, il Parlamento. The espresso is creamy, thick and so tasteful.

Giolitti (Via Uffici del Vicario)


Near the Sant’Eustacchio Caffè you have one of the best gelaterias, Giolitti. Very rich gelato!

Benito AL Bosco (Via Morice, 96 - VELLETRI)

Benito AL Bosco

If you have the chance to visit outside the city, the Castelli Romani region is beautiful. Here you can find one of the most authentic real roman restaurants, Benito. You will find a large choice of the oldest roman recipes from the fish (one of the best Zuppa di pesce) to the meat (you must try the Abbacchio, a kind of roast lamb).
