Let's take a minute to rant about the unreal beauty that is Salzburg, shall we?
Maybe you're ambling along the river, wishing the serene waters and radiant sun would just mind their own business, when you turn around to look behind you...
... and realize the river is actually a magical mirror that turns everything it reflects into a shimmering, emerald-washed Impressionist painting. Ugh, show-off.
Or you're moseying through the Old Town, rolling your eyes at yet anothercenturies-old building in the UNESCO World Heritage Center...
... when you come to this vantage point and you're like, um, hello, I'm actually not a fan of picturesque cities that belong in a fairytale?
"Let's go to that castle over there. I bet it's not literally an eleventh-century castle built by the Archbishop of Salzburg."
"Wait, why are the Alps so close you can see every detail of those snow-capped peaks? So rude."
Where else but Salzburg would a historic city center, medieval castle, and towering mountain be so close together you could capture them all in the same photo? God, if I wanted this much visual stimulation, I would have stayed at home and stared at the TV instead.
