Fall might soon be upon us, but we’re not in the clear just yet! August is the hottest month for many cities in Europe, not to mention the most crowded. Whether enjoying a Spanish siesta or not, you’re likely to need a couple hours to rest and refresh. Escape the afternoon heat with a dip in one of these lavish hotel pools. Bring your cameras, too, because these pools come with epic views.

Grand Hotel Tremezzo

When it comes to sophistication, the Grand Hotel Tremezzo is tough to top. The 100-plus year-old hotel is effortlessly magical, what with its art nouveau design and pool that juts out into Lake Como. Between this floating pool and the hotel’s private beach facing the pool, you’ll experience a little slice of Italian heaven in this sanctuary. On a clear day, you’ll get views of Bellagio peninsula and the Grigne Mountains.

King Street Townhouse In Manchester, UK

You might not be battling the heat waves of southern Europe, but Manchester can still get pretty dang hot. Thanks to its central location, the infinity pool at King Street Townhouse is right in the center of town. Sunsets are amazing here, so make sure to grab a lounger well in advance. Bonus points because this hotel is houses in a stunning, renovated Italian Renaissance building that transports you back in time.

Barcelona is bustling in the summertime, so you’ll appreciate a mid-day break at the Ohla. Situated near the Plaza Catalunya, you’ll experience the best of Barcelona, minus the crowds. Chill out with a glass of Spanish wine or take a dip in their pool overlooking the city. Early birds can even start their day with morning Yoga class and green smoothies. Summers in Sweden are already pretty pleasant weather-wise, but that doesn’t mean a dip in their heated, outdoor pool won’t do you some good. For starters, the Upper House located on the top floors of Tower 2 of the Gotha Towers, so you can imagine the city views you’ll get. It’s also a glass-encased pool, making you feel on top of the world...because, you kind of are. Consider a night swim underneath a starry sky.

Epic Sana Lisboa - Lisbon, Portugal

Epic Sana Lisboa

Lisbon is easily one of our favorite European cities, and with infinity pools like the one at the Epic Sana Lisboa, it’s no surprise. Considered one of Lisbon’s hippest hotels, the location couldn’t be better. It’s in the middle of all the action, so you’ll never need to venture too far beyond the luxurious doors of the Sana. In addition to their outdoor infinity pool views, there’s an indoor pool, complete with fountain jets.

What Journy customers are saying

Zach & Samantha

I found Journy after already getting an itinerary from a typical travel agency. Simply put, Journy’s recommendations blew theirs out of the water. Every concierge we worked with really listened to what we wanted as travelers and led us to the off-the-beaten-path sights we were looking for. Plus, the process is super smooth and easy!
