Taylor is the eyes behind the stunning hotel and travel blog InBedWith.Me, which traverses the world to uncover the best accommodations for getting a dose of local flavor. Sometimes she convinces friends and family to tag along her adventures—but other times she prefers to go it alone. While chatting with Taylor about everything from her pro-packing tips to her tricks for stunning plane photos, Journy co-founder Leiti Hsu got Taylor's take on fulfilling solo trips.

"Traveling solo as a woman is one of the most important things you can do. I've had many emails from women telling me how sorry they are that I have to go to all these amazing places by myself. They ask me if I want a man or husband to take with me. I find that offensive. I want to tell them that all women should should travel by themselves at least once.

"I was in New York by myself last month and I had the best time. I'd go to whatever restaurant I wanted. I'd go and have a glass of champagne at whatever bar I wanted. If I wanted to go out to Brooklyn just to get a special doughnut, I could.

"I relish staying in hotels alone. It's nice to go to a clean, amazing space that's just yours for a night. I'll raid the mini bar and watch trash on TV—no judgement.

"When traveling, my guilty pleasure is anything to do with food. If I look up a food online that I really want, I go there at any time to get it. I will travel boroughs in New York just to get a doughnut at midnight. Before Dough was in Manhattan, I used to trek out to Brooklyn to have their doughnuts. Last month in LA my brother and I drove out to some suburb in LA to find this freshly fried up doughnut. It was insane and amazing.

"Not everywhere in the world is ideal to travel by yourself—there are certainly places where you don't want to be alone. Sometimes it's because of safety. Sometimes it's because you're in The Maldives surrounded by romantic couples. But I still think traveling solo is one of the best things I've done."
